AGM Overview
Notice of the Annual General Meeting for the Pedal Power Association is hereby given. Below further details regarding the AGM. The meeting held on Thursday, 18 September 2025 did not proceed due to a quorum not being reached as per 11.4 and 11.5 in our constitution. The adjourned AGM will take place this Thursday, 25 September 2025, at 18:00 via Zoom

The AGM will be a virtual meeting and members will be invited to attend electronically. If anyone cannot access the virtual platform, please contact us. The Pedal Power Association will host the meeting using Zoom that will allow participants to connect remotely. Please Click Here to register to attend the AGM. Please note that you must be a paid-up Pedal Power Association member to attend and vote at the AGM.
If you have any questions to put forward to the Committee, please send them to info@pedalpower.org.za by Monday, 15 September 2025. We will then address these questions either beforehand if of a specific nature, or, if of a general nature, obtain the relevant facts in time for the meeting.

EXCO Committee nominations
In terms of clause 5.1.1 of the PPA Constitution, nomination of candidates for election to the Executive Committee shall be in writing, signed by the member as well as the proposer (both being paid-up members of the Association) and accompanied by the written consent of the candidate nominated, to be emailed to info@pedalpower.org.za no later than 16h00 on Thursday, 11 September 2025. Only paid-up members of the Association may vote at the AGM in terms of clause 5.2.1 of the PPA constitution.
However, we urge members to submit nominations soonest so that they can be uploaded to the PPA website prior to the meeting, giving members sufficient time to consider such nominations. Nomination forms are available upon request from info@pedalpower.org.za. The Chairperson of the meeting may, in their sole discretion, allow nominees to the Committee to consent to their nomination at the meeting itself, if, in their opinion, there are special grounds therefore and provided the nomination was received timeously. This means that the Chairperson cannot accept a late nomination, only a late consent to a nomination. Voting cannot be done by proxy.
Here is an overview of what is expected of a PPA Executive Committee member:
• Be a paid up PPA member;
• Have a full understanding of the PPA constitution;
• Understand and accept the fiduciary responsibilities and duties required of a member of a governing body;
• Have a good working knowledge of the broad cycling environment;
• Possess a skill or qualification that can be used to the benefit of the cycling community at large and give input into creative ways to improve the environment for cycling;
• Be willing to serve for a term of two years;
• Be able to attend approximately 10 PPA meetings (after hours) per annum and attend at least 1 full day strategic review session;
• Be willing to serve on a subcommittee focussing on a particular aspect or initiative of PPA’s focus areas; and
• Accept that this is a voluntary position with no form of financial payment

"I would focus on providing marketing and sales advice to ensure sufficient revenue streams to enable PPA to improve cycling conditions in South Africa via Bike4All programs, safety campaigns and social media. Helping set-up new events focusing at the youth, keeping cycling relevant for the new generation cyclists. Support PPA at fulfilling its advocacy roll to make South Africa a more bike friendly country. Support at setting up new and maintaining current sponsor partnerships. "

"I believe that the knowledge and experience gained from being a Trustee on CTCT Trust will enable me to add value to PPA. I particularly wish to focus on increasing brand value by focusing on building strong positive customer relationships and a unique brand identity by delivering consistent quality exceptional cyclist experiences. I also wish to focus on advocating for the safety of cyclists and helping PPA becoming the voice of cyclists to the right audience (government etc.) I believe this is critical to cycling success in the current environment with increased crime, attacks on cyclists, and accidents becoming increasingly frequent. Growing women cycling in South Africa (being a women cyclist myself), understanding the needs of women and by being actively representing PPA at various initiatives. "

"I am a keen road and mountain cyclist, having completed more than 5 Cape Town Cycle Tours amongst numerous other races. I have commuted to school and university for over 10 years, and I have a firsthand understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing cycling. I am a Mechatronics engineer, and I am currently completing a master's degree in biomedical engineering. My focus during my term would be to bring a practical and useful perspective with the objective of promoting cycling."

"I will continue to support PPA building on the advocacy work being done by PPA with a particular focus on the role that cycling can and should be playing as an extremely important part of transport for all our cities and towns. This because it should be an affordable, safe and convinient form of transport for everyone and our roads should be safe for anyone who wishes to cycle. As part of my contribution I will be supporting interactions with various government departments and agencies to update and improve policies, frameworks and legislation that supports Non Motorised Transport (walking and cycling) and Universal Accessibility. I will also look to assist with building collaborations with other organisations and identifying possible funding opportunities for PPA's work."
